As it happens there is an Oxfordian explanation here and in the following chapter http://www.sourcetext.com/sourcebook/Star/21-40/ch39.html. Not that I necessarily endorse it, but you did ask.

Yes I did but I'm suggesting quiet a bit more than a "vestigial trace" of this character beyond the "primary concept" that brought him "into being".

But I applaud the Ogburn's for their recognition of the possible personal nature and inspiration of this play for Oxford.

Glad you gave it the thought necessary to reply and thank you as well for furthering the conversation.
